The Children at Risk Program was established to reduce poverty among specific groups of children at risk and thus improve their social development. It also aims to enhance the capacity of NGOs to contribute effectively to social development.
The Children at Risk Program was set up for 3 years:
It started May 1st, 2005 and will end June 30, 2009.
The program is active in 11 governorates: Cairo, Giza, Sharqiya, Alexandria, Qalyubiya, Minya, Beni Suef, Fayoum, Sohag, Qena, and Aswan.
The Children at Risk Program targets 5 main groups of children:
The Program also reaches out to NGOs working with these categories of children at risk and the NGO departments of Ministry of Social Security (MOSS) and selected governorates.
The Children at Risk Program works to improve the living conditions and prospects of five groups of economically vulnerable and socially marginalized children with the support of a strengthened NGO sector.
